The fourth in my ongoing series of Japanese girls in kimono. I will do one more before I finally put this series to rest.
If you're wondering about the title, it's referring to her hair being down while wearing a very traditional kimono.

Need to get a good skin tone? My tried and true combination is: a dab of alizarin crimson, a dab of lemon yellow, and a tiny dab of ultramarine. Mix those together, then mix in titanium white until you get the desired complexion. You can also try using a bit of cadmium orange as well for a more bronzed or tanned look.

Much more use of light and shadow this time around to get a more 3D look to her face. Once again I didn't use a model, the overall image was created by studying a selection of images, ie. fans, hairstyles (the hair was the hardest for some reason, redid it about 5 times...), kimono patterns, female faces, etc. A good deal of my own imagination went into this as well.

By the way, my upcoming art show will be held at the Pink Cow in Shibuya, on November 8th at 6pm (free of charge). If anybody is interested in coming, please let me know by November 1st.
